Global War on Terrorism Medal |

On March 12, 2003, President Bush signed an executive order officially
creating two new medals to be awarded to US military forces involved in
operations in the war against terrorism. Global War on Terrorism Service
Medal will be awarded to personnel involved in supporting operations
against terrorism anywhere in the world. Global War on Terrorism
Expeditionary Medal will be awarded to personnel involved in actual
operations against terrorists. Exact award criteria will be determined
by Department of Defense.
